Michael Ramich Participates in Entrepreneur's Series Event Oct 24th, 2011

Frontier Partner Michael Ramich recently visited the Research Triangle to serve on a panel titled “Building a SaaS Company from Funding through IPO.” The event, part of the Entrepreneur's Series hosted by Southern Capitol Ventures, included market commentary from Laura Lederman at William Blair and two panels of local SaaS entrepreneurs and active SaaS investors. The event drew more than 100 people who engaged in discussions of case studies, valuation, and alternatives to financing a SaaS business.

In response to financing alternatives, Michael provided commentary on the advantages of bootstrapping as opposed to raising early stage institutional capital. He pointed to two companies on the entrepreneur panel as great examples that have successfully brought their SaaS products to market without taking outside institutional capital. In doing so, they have created real value for their founders and shareholders, and preserved significant options to consider from a position of strength. With a profitable, proven model they can continue to grow organically, consider accelerating the business with a growth equity infusion coupled with partial liquidity, or sell the business for a relatively modest amount yet deliver significant proceeds to shareholders.

Frontier has made several successful investments in bootstrapped SaaS companies over its twelve year history including current portfolio companies Daxko, Lanyon, and Social Solutions.
